Daddy broke it!
Yes, that's a washing machine. We came home from church to find Daddy finishing a load of laundry with manual intervention. He had a hand inside and a hand pushing a screwdriver through a hole. He says the 'lid switch' broke.
We went to bed right after he left to get a replacement switch. Too bad Sears, Lowe's, and Home Depot don't carry washing machine parts. Daddy at least covered it up again until he can get to an appliance store tomorrow.
