UPDATE: Valdosta's TitleTown

Bazemore-Hyder Stadium: A fitting home for this 36-inch trophy. We think it will stay at city hall, just the same.

Thanks for helping us win! We had fun at the taping of the segment that aired tonight as the closing segment of SportsCenter on ESPN.

Here we are checking out the scene.

One of the reasons Valdosta is a great place to live: you're never far from nice people. Erin hopped up just three or four rows and spent some time with Miss Tina and some of the other people we've grown to love from our church.

Megan was a dressed as a Wildcat fan, but these were her shaky-shakies.Here's some of the prep work for the segment, with Jessie Tuggle and Wendi Nix. She's actually married to a Boston Red Sox Vice President and lives in Boston. She seemed to like us.

This one shows Blaze (Megan wanted him on here) and the sign soon to be welcoming visitors to Winnersville (bottom right).

***Valdosta had 29.2% of the vote. Parkersburg, WV had 24.4%. Two small towns with over half the total votes. The rest of the top six were Green Bay with 11.2 %, Massillon, Ohio, with 6.7 %, Boston with 5.8 % and Gainesville, Fla., with 5.2 %.

Bowling outing

Mommy is working with Camp Do-Re-Mi, a music camp, at church this week. They went bowling after camp was over on Monday and we got to go along. This is the first time we actually bowled with a real ball and real pins. Normally we just bowl on the Wii. We had lots and lots of fun and Mommy took lots of different pictures.

Megan tried to pick up Mommy's ball and found that it was a lot heavier than hers. She got her finger mashed and the nice lady at the bowling ally brought her a bag of ice.

"High five, sissy!"

"Yippee! I got lots of pins down!"

Megan is winding up!

Here's Megan bowling. Great little video.

And here's Erin. In her second video she had to stop and pose and then she forgot she was supposed to be bowling!

Titletown is Valdosta

We got to go to the VSU P.E. Complex last night and watch TV on big screens! If the Chick-fil-A cows had not been there, we would have had a great time. We did have a good time. We hope you will agree that we live in a great city, and please help by voting for Valdosta online next week.

Beach Bums

While Mama and Papa were here we went to St. Simon's and to the beach. We had so much fun. No need to explain any more...here are the pictures of our fun at the beach!

We also stayed at Epworth by the Sea while we were there and got to play on the playground and we saw a lizard for the first time.

Braves Game on Independence Day

We went to Atlanta for what was more or less a Halter get-together over the 4th. We spent some time at Aunt Amelia and Uncle Ross's house. There were lots of things planned, even after we left, but the big thing for us was going to a Braves game. Since we didn't have good naps on Thursday and didn't sleep much Thursday night, we weren't exactly ready to stay up late, but we managed.
We stopped in at what used to be called Tooner Field, but we weren't really impressed. Here we are in a cartoon.
This was the biggest flag ever at Turner Field.

The huge Coke bottle and its new sidekick, the Chick-fil-A cow. Kelly Johnson hit a home run, so we got to see fireworks from the Coke bottle. The cow did the chop some, but he's a bit silly.

Tim Hudson is all warmed up, along with Corky Miller and Brian McCann.
Brian McCann catches his breath after his RBI single. This one's from Daddy's binoculars.
Erin liked the postgame fireworks!
Megan thought the big ones were too loud. Mama had to help cover her ears. Did we mention Michael likes gluten-free snacks?

What were they thinking?

Daddy got a letter in the mail yesterday. The people at Marquis Who's Who decided to list him in next year's edition of Who's Who in America. This is either an honor or just another of many companies that publish lists and then sell the books for outrageous profit, not to mention all of the paperweights, plaques, and the like.
